Engine Specifications

Toyota Highlander Engine SpecsThe Toyota Highlander is a powerful, precise SUV that offers fun-to-drive performance. Much of this performance has to do with the available engine options, of which there are three. These engine options vary in their respective outputs, abilities, and efficiencies:

  • A 2.7L 4-cylinder engine that generates 185 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque.
  • A 3.5L V6 engine that generates 295 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque.
  • A 3.5L V6 Hybrid engine that comes with ECO and POWER Modes, so you can adapt your driving style to better match the surrounding conditions. Plus, it sports a system net horsepower of 306.

You can also choose your preferred transmission from three select options. The first is a refined 6-speed automatic; the second is an 8-speed automatic transmission with Dynamic REV Management, Snow Mode, and uphill/downhill shift logic; and the final option is a Continuously Variable Transmission.

Passenger Space

You can configure your Toyota Highlander in a number of different ways thanks to the versatile cabin, which has enough room to fit the entire family comfortably.

To start, there’s plenty of headroom with 40.7 inches in the front row, 39.9 inches in the second, and 35.9 in the third. Legroom, which is much-appreciated on road trips, is also generous. The front offers 44.2 inches of space, the middle row offers 38.4 inches, and the final row offers 27.7 inches.

Toyota Highlander Seats

There are also plenty of seating configurations you can take advantage of thanks to the 60/40 split, fold-flat third-row seats with sliding headrests and recline function. The second row comes with heated outboard seats too!

Cargo Space

Whether your Highlander is filled to the brim with family members or you’re the only person in the vehicle, you’ll be able to utilize an abundant amount of cargo room that’s located behind the third row. However, if you need more room for your materials, you can always adjust the Highlander configurations so that you can easily make more room.

To start, you can keep both the second- and third-row seats standing. In this scenario, you’ll have 13.8 cubic feet of storage space.

If you fold those third-row seats down, that number jumps to 42.3 cubic feet, which is a sturdy increase. Finally, you can fold both the second- and third-row seats down. If you do this, the cargo room expands to 83.7 cubic feet.

Interior Features & Technology

The Toyota Highlander configurations vary, allowing you to pick and choose the features you want in the cabin.

The vehicle comes standard with an Entune™ Audio system, which includes a 6.1-inch dashboard-mounted touchscreen that drivers can use when it’s time to choose their preferred audio entertainment for the ride. It even includes voice recognition, so you can make your selections without touching the screen.

The available Entune™ Audio Plus enlarges the screen to eight inches while adding HD Radio™ as one of the media options. This system also adds a 3-month trial subscription of SiriusXM® Satellite Radio and a Scout® GPS Link.

The Entune™ Premium Audio system carries over the 8-inch touchscreen. However, it adds Integrated Navigation and an Entune® App Suite. That second feature lets you add apps to the touchscreen from your paired smartphone, so you can easily access your favorite podcasts and audio streaming services.

Drivers looking to configure their interior with premium sound may want to consider the Entune™ Premium JBL® Audio system. On top of the larger screen, the Entune® App Suite, and the SiriusXM® trial, this system adds 12 JBL® GreenEdge™ speakers to the cabin to deliver high-quality audio.

Toyota Highlander Color Configurations

One of the last things you’ll need to decide on with your Highlander is how you want it to look. Choosing the right color can make all the difference and act as a stylistic representation of your personality.

The 2019 Toyota Highlander has eight distinct color options to choose from. If you’re traditional with your color configuration, there’s the Midnight Black Metallic, Blizzard Pearl, Celestial Silver Metallic, and Predawn Gray Mica.

If you don’t mind straying from the core colors, there are a few that can add a distinct look to your SUV. The Highlander includes Ooh La La Rouge Mica, Toasted Walnut Pearl, Alumina Jade Metallic, and Shoreline Blue Pearl.

Getting an in-person and up-close view of these varying options can go a long way in helping you decide how you want the Highlander color configuration to look.
