About Toups’ Meatery
While Toups’ Meatery first opened in 2012, the history of the family goes back 300 years in the city of New Orleans. They’re ingrained in the culture and cuisine of the Crescent City. Inspired by the family history, they decided to open Toups’ Meatery and share their culinary practices and history with the city residents and visitors alike.
They offer quite a lot in terms of tasty meats: fresh butcher-cut, dried and cured selection, and even more—encompassing all they can so that nothing is wasted. With a plentiful meat selection, cocktails in pitchers, and a warm and inviting ambiance, there’s plenty this meatery eatery offers to its patrons.
What’s on the Menu?
Chef Isaac Toup lives and breathes Cajun cuisine. He’s spent the better part of his life learning the practices and developing his own approach that’s both authentic and unique, earning him several accolades along the way. It certainly shows with his menu!
It’s always good to start off with some tasty appetizers before working your way to the main course. You can sample some of their small plates: Cheese Board, House Smoked Catfish Dip, Crispy Turkey Necks, or even Foie Gras Torchon. They also offer the Meatery Board that offers a selection of fresh and house-cured meats with condiments.
Still, if you’ve come to eat, there are some large plate options you’ll certainly want to dig into, whether it’s the Lamb Neck, Double Cut Pork Chop, Confit Chicken Thighs, Hot Fried Quail, Venison, or the Raines Farms Wagyu Steak. You can also add meaty options a la carte, like Cracklins, Chicken Liver Mousse, Boudin Balls, the Daily Sausage, and more!
Cocktails & Libations
There’s plenty to sip on while dining at Toups’ Meatery. They have an extensive wine list ranging from reds, whites, blushes, varietals, and sparkling. They also have quite a whiskey and bourbon list. If you’re looking for hand-crafted cocktails, they have plenty, including the Emerald City with gin, lime, mint, and luxardo. The Ol’ Stogie includes whiskey, raw cola syrup, black pepper, and lemon oil. If you’ve got a broad palate, the Toups’ Manhattan may suffice.
