The Highlander offers plenty of options for its drivers with its varying engine selections. At the base level, this SUV includes a 2.7L 4-cylinder engine that comes mated with a 6-speed automatic transmission and can produce 185 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque.
Drivers looking for more power can opt for the 3.5L V6 engine which includes the 8-speed Direct Shift automatic transmission and can deliver 295 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque. There’s even a hybrid version of this engine, which includes the Electronically Controlled Continuously Variable Transmission and it delivers 306 net horsepower.

The 2019 Toyota SUV certainly has a lot to offer its driver and passengers in terms of its selection of entertainment and technology features. The vehicle includes the Entune™ Audio system, which features a 6.1-inch touchscreen display that drivers can use to select the AM/FM radio, CD player, Bluetooth® phone or audio stream, or even the USB or auxiliary-connected media device. The touchscreen also incorporates enhanced voice recognition technology, which allows the driver to use voice commands to select their preferred media.
The Highlander even includes driver-assisting technology with the Toyota Safety Sense™ P bundle. These features use sensors to measure speed and proximity to provide helpful alerts so you can avoid an accident. These features include the Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Automatic High Beams, and the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control.

The Highlander offers a spacious cabin that’s equipped to carry eight passengers with three rows of seating. The Highlander even offers the option of middle row captain’s chairs, which reduces the passenger capacity to seven. In terms of headroom, the Highlander offers 40.7 inches in the front, 39.9 inches in the middle, and 35.9 inches in the third row. As for legroom, the Highlander includes 44.2 inches in the front, 38.4 inches in the middle, and 27.7 inches in the last row.
There’s plenty of cargo space options within the Highlander. Since the last two rows can be folded down, the cargo space can be expanded. The SUV offers 13.8 cubic feet of cargo space, but 42.3 cubic feet when the third row is folded. When both the second and third rows are folded, the Highlander offers 83.7 cubic feet of space.
