Put together by the folks at Bohn Toyota, this review gives you an in-depth look at the Tacoma and all you can expect to get from it. When you’re finished reading, you’ll have a better idea if it’s the right truck for all your projects and/or daily driving around Harvey, New Orleans, and Metairie.

2018 Tacoma: Performance Specs

2018 Toyota Tacoma

There are two engines to choose from in the 2018 Tacoma. The base engine is a 2.7L 4-cylinder engine, and it produces up to 159 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque-perfect for driving around town. Although if you’re planning on towing something or want a little more acceleration for easy highway driving, the 3.5L V6 engine has 278 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque on tap.

With that V6 engine, the Tacoma can tow up to 6,800 pounds when properly equipped, so you can hitch up your boat and get it to open water easily. Payload is especially impressive: with 1,620 pounds of hauling capacity, you can transport plenty of things for work or for play.

Advanced Safety Features

The Toyota Tacoma comes equipped with the Toyota Safety Sense™ P suite of driver-assist technologies, for improved security behind the wheel. The Pre-Collision System can help detect potential frontal crashes before they happen. It will warn you with audio and visual alerts and can help apply the brakes to mitigate or avoid a collision.

Dynamic Radar Cruise Control comes in handy if you do a lot of highway driving. This system uses radar to help you keep a preset distance from the vehicle in front of you. Just set the interval you want to maintain, and DRCC will adjust your speed automatically to keep pace.

If you’re driving off-road in the 2018 Tacoma, you may appreciate the standard GoPro® mount located on the windshield. You can hook up a GoPro® camera and capture your off-road adventures, so you and your fellow riders can relive them later.

Infotainment is another strength of the Tacoma. Its available Entune™ Audio System features an intuitive 7-inch touchscreen that lets you access your phone and apps, along with up-to-the-minute weather and traffic information.

With the optional Qi-compatible wireless charging pad, you can keep your smartphone battery at full capacity without the hassle of cords. Just set your phone on the non-slip surface in front of your cupholders and watch as it charges!
